Lancing Rangers Football Club plays its football in the Arun & Chichester Youth Football League and is the only F.A. Charter Standard Development Club in the League and only 1 of 13 clubs in the whole of Sussex that holds this accolade.
The football club successfully achieved The F.A. Charter Standard in 2004 and was then awarded the FA Charter Development status in 2007. The club was awarded Sussex County FA Charter Standard Club of the year in 2007 and has recently been awarded Charter Standard Development Club of the year for 2009.
The FA Charter Standard award was launched by the Football Association in February 2001 with the aim of setting standards of coaching, administration and child protection for clubs working with young people. There are only a handful of clubs that have this accreditation in the UK.
In order to reach the Charter Standards clubs must have displayed the following competencies:
• A written constitution
• Self-certified screening of managers, coaches and officials
• All managers to have minimum of Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football
• Commitment to attend in-service training
• Acceptance and promotion of Codes of Conduct
• Commitment to provide Mini-Soccer opportunities for Under 10’s
• Commitment to promote schools liaison and equal opportunities
• Club Welfare Officer
By achieving the Charter Standard Award, Lancing Rangers is demonstrating to all its members, parents and the public, that we are a well organised & safe club for children to be a part of.
The club currently has in excess of 200 boys and girls and over 50 volunteers. All the managers in the football club have a minimum qualification of the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football, a course run by the Football Association which includes Emergency Aid and a Safeguarding Children Workshop, in addition all managers, assistants and coaches have been checked and accepted by the Football Associations Criminal Records Bureau.
Lancing Rangers currently has 14 squads with age groups from under 6 through to under 16. The club utilises numerous schools and recreation grounds in the Lancing and Sompting area for both training facilities and for matches.
The club holds several social events during the season; in addition the clubs hold an annual Presentation Evening and a very successful six a side tournament where in excess of 3500 people attend over a weekend.
