COVID-19 March 2021 Update

Yep we're still here.. 1 year on and we are slowly coming out of lockdown for hopefully the last time.

However, it is with deepest disappointment that after much discussion, the Arun & Chichester Youth Football League have called for an immediate halt to the season, deeming it 'null and void', with the exception of the outstanding U9 and U10 Cup Finals.

As a club the news provides clarity over how to proceed with the next few months, but as mentioned by the league and members, many council and school pitches become unavailable after the end of April so would be a cause of concern for many teams on being able to complete fixtures by June.

The news does mention that there are no restrictions on friendly matches which we are sure will be a weekly feature for most teams.

Regarding training this will continue from Saturday 3rd April and more information will be made available by your individual managers on locations and times.

No spectators are allowed at grassroots sport as part of step one of the governments/FA roadmap. This means that at this stage, no spectators are allowed at grassroots football. However one parent/carer per youth player is permitted to be present at football activities although they must observe the relevant government COVID-19 guidance.

For both training and matches we have updated our club risk assessment and guidance to match the newest FA and government guidelines. This can be found below:

On Monday 1st and 29th March, the Lancing Rangers Committee met to discuss the next few months as a club.

It was decided that our annual Summer Tournament would also be cancelled for the 2nd year in a row due to the uncertainty of the dates provided by the government in February.

We are however planning on hosting a football event during the summer months when restrictions have lifted including hosting the presentation of awards. More information on this will be available later in spring.

Unanimously, the club also decided to reduce next years registration cost for returning players (players currently registered to play for Lancing Rangers in the 20/21 season). This reduction will be 50% as we felt this covered the costs of missed training at Culver Road and the lack of matches played this year.

It was also decided that next seasons registrations for returning players will now be performed online through a form on our website. Payment will be taken through a payment online too.

However, any new players wanting to register with the club will still need to contact us separately as this will need to be completed in pen and paper.

More information will be made available soon regarding registrations.

Our current Under 12s and Under 10s are looking for new players as they move into the next age groups for next season. Please contact us for more information.

We hope you are keeping safe and we can't wait to see you back out there this weekend!
