End of Season Squad Report - Under 15 Selects

Our Under 15 Select squad was managed by Steve Searle for this season which was played in Division C of the Arun & Chichester Youth Football League.

The season started off disappointingly with two straight losses away to Felpham Colts Yellow (2-1; Ellis Johnson, Reuben Sullivan) and at home to Felpham Colts Blue (9-0). September ended on a high however with the Under 15 Selects beating Bosham 4-2 with goals being scored by Macauley Leyton, Luke Turner and Reuben Sullivan x2.

With that win behind them the Under 15 Selects saw off Worthing Town Black 4-3 with Riley Mighall, Austen Hogan and Ryan Keegan x2 all scoring their first goals of the season. A second win in October this time away to Worthing Minors Athletic 5-3. Macauley Leyton bagging a brace and Austen Hogan scoring a first hattrick for the season.

Two wins were unfortunately followed by two defeats as Whyke United narrowly edged a 3-2 win at Sompting Recreation Ground (Reuben Sullivan x2) and a 5-0 home loss to second place Worthing Dynamos Youth.

A huge 3-1 away win against rivals Lancing Rangers Select pushed our U15 Selects up the table with Reuben Sullivan scoring a third brace of the season.

Two more huge wins in December; 3-2 away to Worthing Town Black (Reuben Sullivan, Oscar Simmonds) and a 2-1 home win against Worthing Minors Athletic (Reuben Sullivan) rounded off a great season for our Under 15 Selects who had finished second from bottom the season before.

A strong season for the chairman and his squad. They will be hoping of more of the same next season.

Managers Word:
As for all of us a much-shortened season but we still managed to play 10 matches with more positive results than previous seasons.
The first match was a very entertaining and tight away match to Felpham Yellow which we lost 3-2, Riley managed to break his wrist in the warmup and Ellis scored from inside our half and I think most neutrals would have agreed we deserved a draw. The second match was a very disappointing performance against Felpham Blue with a 0-9 defeat, but we remained positive. Our third game as another away game to Bosham and against a good ball playing team we notched our first victory, 4-2, well done all. A little roll followed with a 4-3 win over a strong Worthing Town and then a 5-2 victory over Worthing Minors (in which Riley broke his other wrist). The following week was a tough match against Whyke, in a prickly game we narrowly lost 3-2. The following week was a rather disappointing performance against Worthing Dynamos and another loss, this time 5-0.
We then turned it around again and had another run of victories with a derby victory 3-1 against Lancing Rangers followed by victories against Worthing Town, 3-2, and then Worthing Minors 2-1, so a season of 6 wins and 4 defeats with 25 Goals scored, which gives us a great platform to build on for next season.
All players contributed with Rueben marking his debut full season with us with 9 goals; followed by Austen (4), Macauley (3), Ellis (2), Luke (2), Ryan K (2), Riley (1) & Oscar (1).
George as an ever present alongside, Luke, Macauley & Harry.
Harry as always, a fantastic shot stopper, Ellis & Jack looked strong in defence with Drew & Ryan W, Beth, Luca, Luke and Oscar our left sided options in defence. And midfield; Freddie, Ben and Riley on the right, George, Macauley, Maisie and Olivia in the middle and Ryan K, Austen & Rueben our forwards
Thanks to all the players for working hard and taking on my coaching and direction which combined is building on our chances to improve further. Thanks to Lee and Gary for helping me with the coaching and Lee again for running the line on most matchdays.
I am excited for next season with some new players expected to supplement the team and let us carry on working hard and challenge for some honours next year.

Over the season all managers choose two players from their squad to win awards; the first being the Most Improved Player which was awarded to Macauley Leyton:

The second was awarded to Reuben Sullivan as Managers Player:
