End of Season Squad Report - Under 9s

Our Under 9 squad was managed by Stacey Wright for this season. Being below Under 12 they did not play competitive football this season.

Manager Stacey had this to say about his fantastic squad:

We came back after the lockdown with ten boys ready to get back together and enjoy some football. We quickly moved up to the new challenge of playing 7 a side with some friendlies which gave us some great wins. Our first league games gave us a strong start and then we had our first foray into a cup competition. It may not have gone as we'd have hoped but it was a good learning experience and we got a memorable win from a sunny trip to Chichester.
The start-stop of the lockdown in November meant some re-grouping for a couple of games in December and it wasn't easy especially in some very testing weather conditions. But the boys always played hard and fought to the end. They are a team whose heads never go down when the score line is against them and they plough on until the final whistle.
We have enjoyed some very competitive friendlies since resuming football in April and its clear the boys are keen to resume playing the game they love with their friends and having some fun while doing it. They are great at weathering the bad days and basking in the good ones.
This season has been even more unusual than the last and far from ideal for making a step to a larger team and bigger pitches, but the boys have got through it together, including a memorable zoom call led by George with some fun challenges! We can only hope that the 21-22 season is more settled and the weather is kinder to us.
I continue to feel very grateful that we have such a good humoured group of boys who support each other and respect myself and Steven, and now Jack. All the players are finding their comfortable positions and becoming more confident as a result. It of course follows that this is also because we have a very supportive group of parents and relatives who support every player not just their own, no matter how the game is going or how wet they are getting on the side lines. This is what shapes our team. Thanks to all the parents who are now proficient at taking down goals and getting closer to knowing how to put them up! Special thanks goes to Martyn for kitting the boys out this season, they are finally getting some wear out of their new kits!

Over the season all managers choose two players from their squad to win awards; the first being the Most Improved Player which was awarded to Dylan West:

The second was awarded to George Waters as Managers Player:
