I hope you are all well and ready for Sunday!
This a quick message to confirm the players information for the Dave Gurney Memorial Tournament which is due to take place at Sussex County FA HQ 3G Pitch, Culver Road, Lancing.
The venue opens at 13:00 on the afternoon of Sunday 1st May 2022 and players are invited to arrive after this time. There is very limited parking at the venue, so we ask for all local players to travel by foot where possible as there is limited residential parking in the surrounding areas.

Little to no parking is available in the red area, with limited parking available in the yellow area. We recommend parking in the green area and using the alleyways, highlighted in yellow, by foot to the venue.
Ensure you leave enough time for arrive in time for the event.
The entry to the venue is through the main turnstiles as below:
Please bring a printed or digital copy of your Eventbrite ticket which was emailed to you after your player registration purchase. The QR code on this email will grant you access to the stadium.
Once inside, players will have changing facilities inside the stadium to use. There are only two changing rooms so these will be shared facilities between 13:00 and 14:00 so we will ensure that space is available on the day to prevent overcrowding.
Once changed there will space to leave bags and clothes, etc.
Teams are, however, welcome to use the changing rooms during/in-between matches whilst other teams are playing for any team-talks, etc.
We have access to the pitch from 13:00 until 14:00 for training/warm-up sessions for all squads. This will be shared out in quarters with teams being able to share the use of the large goals for any shooting practice they wish to do. We will provide balls for training and then separate balls for the matches.
For safety reasons we ask all players to wear shin-pads to prevent any injuries.
There will be a number of first-aiders on site if required.
The pitch is artificial turf (3G) so suitable footwear must be worn, again for safety.

Each team are wearing their own shirts on the day. These may be provided for some teams, but please check below to ensure you bring the correct shirts:
Lancing Empire Old Boys – you have been provided with blue/black striped shirts by Lancing United FC. No requirement to bring extra shirts.
Lancing Rangers Managers & Parents – will be wearing either red shirts which have been provided by Shoreham FC, or plain blue shirts.
For managers, please bring your Lancing Rangers blue training shirts.
For parents, please bring a plain blue shirt just in case red shirts are not used.
Lancing Rangers Veterans – you have been provided with yellow/black striped shirts by The Railway pub in Lancing. No requirement to bring extra shirts
Lancing Rangers Young Boys – will be wearing plain white shirts.
For ex-Rangers players from 2019, please wear your old white matchday Rangers shirts.
For ex-Rangers players from pre-2019, please bring plain white shirts along with you.
Each player will need to provide their own shorts and socks. We request that every players brings black shorts and black socks. These do not have to be plain, but must be black.
We invite every player, spectator and volunteer to take part in a minutes applause for Dave Gurney before the start of the fixtures at 14:00.
Matches then begin at 14:00. Each team will play each other once, 3 games in total, in a round-robin league style fixture list. Each game is 25 minutes long followed by a 5-minute break in-between games.
Please bring plenty of food and especially drink along on the day. Food and drink is available at the venue and drinking water can be taken from the changing room taps.
Once each team has played all their fixtures a final league position is settled based on points and goal-difference, goals scored and head-to-head being used if required. A play-off match will follow to decide a league position if two or more teams have the same points, goal difference and goals scored and head-to-head.

Once a final league table has been settled there will be a break of around 45 minutes long before the first place and second place teams play a final game. This is where we invite all spectators and players to take part in our raffle.
The final game is 35 minutes and will be held at around 17:45 in the evening.
The winner of this match will be crowned the winners of the Dave Gurney Memorial Tournament 2022 and receive a trophy. If the game finishes level after 35 minutes then a penalty shoutout will follow with the winning team receiving the trophy.
The trophy presentations will follow the final game, including Golden Glove and Golden Boot medals.
We will have volunteers supporting us with officiating on the day, both in the middle and running the line. Red and yellow cards are being used on the day even though we wish not to use them. Please respect the officials as this is a day of celebration. Any players found not to be respect the officials and their decisions will be sin-binned or sent off.
Once the games are complete we hope players will hang around to enjoy socialising with each other in the bar, where alcoholic and soft drinks, and food will be available.
Lastly, we hope that the weather forecast remains mild/sunny for Sunday and we cannot wait to see everybody. Please bring as many family members or friends along as possible as the bigger the crowd, the more money we raise.
